Trauma season 1 episode 21

TRAUMA ( Pains of Love ) - Season 1
Episode 21

GENERAL HOSPITAL
:
I woke up and tried opening my eyes. I
immediately knew the bed I lay wasn’t mine
but what happened to me? And what I was
doing there was something I couldn’t figure
out. I turned my head to the door and saw my
mom sitted on an armchair beside a table.
The throbbing headache I felt seemed to
increase every moment.
“Mom!” I called in a calm gentle voice but
loud enough for her to hear.
I guess she was dozing coz she startled and
began rubbing her eyes, then turned to face me
just as I called her again.
“Oh my God! Becky,” she exclaimed, stood up
and pushed the chair behind her and rushed to
me. The mattress I lay on sank inside a bit as
she sat on it and held my hands.
“My jewel, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to, please
forgive me,” she apologised in one breath and
bent to kiss my forehead.
“Mom! What happened and where’s Nath and
Josh?” I inquired.
“Too many people ain’t allowed inside the
ward, let me call them,” she said, stood up
and left the ward. I could tell from the way she
spoke that she had been crying but the reason
behind her tears was something I couldn’t
place a finger on as I could not even
remember a single thing…
Soon mom came back in with my auntie, uncle
and cousins. A doctor also walked in as they
were touching me, smiling and telling me to
get well soon.
“Excuse me please, I need to know how she’s
responding to treatment,” the doctor said while
they obligued and moved aside. The doctor
was a young woman of about thirty five. She
wore a long white coverall and on her neck
hung a stethoscope. She had this pleasant
smile on her face as she placed the
stethoscope on my chest while also listening.
After about few minutes of listening, she hung
back the stethoscope around her neck, then
turned to my mom and family members. “I’m
afraid she had hit a delicate part of her brain
probably when she fell down. And that means
she now has a temporary loss of memory
which I believe will heal in no time,” she
explained calmly.
“So, what are we to do now inorder to help
her?” Nath asked.
“Just take her home and try making her feel
extremely comfortable, it will help a lot.”
“But doctor, she called me when she opened
her eyes, someone with memory loss can’t
remember anything,” Mom said.
“Yes, that’s very true but her’s is not very
severe and that’s why there is a greater chance
of her speedy recovery. She will be discharged
soon but you will have to make sure she feeds
well and eat lots of fruit while at home,” the
doctor said with the pleasant smile still on her
face, then excused herself and left the ward…
After the payments of bills and other necessary
stuffs, I was finally discharged and taken
home…

AT HOME
:
I sat on the couch inbetween mom and Nath.
Mom’s hand was placed across my shoulder
and she was crying again.
“Why crying?” I asked and held her face.
She smiled through her tears and hugged me
tight. “I’m fine sweetheart, let me get you
something to eat,” she said and stood up
while I nodded.
“What is going on here?” I asked, turning to
face Nath.
“Nothing, everything is fine,” Nath smiled, then
everywhere became quiet again.
I doubt if I had really lost my memory because
I could remember my family members very
well but each time I tried remembering what
happened before I fainted, I just couldn’t and
the more I tried, the more banning my
headache became, so I decided to forget
about it.
Later, my food was brought and Nath began to
feed me gently. I ate bits by bits while still
trying to get a clue on what was going on.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Josh
stood up and walked to the door, then opened
it. Five students who wore school uniform
walked into the sitting room. I stood up and
glanced at the wall clock, the time was
2:45pm. I walked towards them and peered at
their faces but unfortunately, I couldn’t
recognise any of them. Just then, mom ran
down the stairs towards our direction.
“I thought I had warned you both never to step
foot in here again?” Mom shouted in
annoyance. Her loud voice affected me really
bad and also forced me to place my hands
over my two ears.
“Gloria please calm down, they mean no
harm,” my auntie pleaded.
“No!” mom shrieked. “They, especially him,”
she said and pointed at one of the boys in
school uniform. “They want to ruin my
daughter’s life,” she sobbed while Josh held
her.
I was confused. The faces of those students
looked familiar and I felt I knew them
somewhere but I couldn’t remember. “Who are
they?” I asked.
“I’m David!” One of the boys introduced,
smiling broadly like one who just won a
lottery.
“David!” I repeated. “David from where? You all
wear school uniforms, are you my classmates
in school?” I asked, looking from one person
to another…
To be continued.
