Hailey POV:
My head was resting on Chase shoulder while he was busy watching a
movie with Noah. Noah is becoming so attach to Chase that I sometimes
feel neglected, he's always asking him to go and play in the park not
me. But inside I know he's a kid who just got his father and if you
have a father like Chase I think it's very hard not love and get
attach.
Chase is now a lot change man than the boy I fell in love. He's so
caring towards us that sometimes I'm forced to think that how I have
lived this long without him.
Chase always knows what to say to make me laugh, he always know how to
convince Noah to do something or not to do something.
Without even me saying anything he'll understands that I need his help
in my thesis. He'll just come to me and help me even if he is hell of
a tired himself.
When he knows my dates of shark months are approaching and I feel like
laughing hard to crying in a blink of an eye, he takes care of me like
new born baby.
He says that I'm his princess that now I really started to feel like
one. Now I regret praying to die because of what happened in our past.
I regret that I asked God to give me death because if I knew that I'll
get him after surviving that pain I would have never begged for it in
the first place. He's worth of all the pain I felt in my life to reach
here.
I felt a light kiss on my head making me open my eyes.
"Huh...thinking about something intense again ?". He said. See that's
what I was talking about he always knows everything before I can tell
him personally. I'm starting to get suspicious that he's the mind
reader.
"Just about us and tomorrow's dinner". I said giving him a small smile
then my eyes went to sleeping Noah on his lap. The laptop is still
sitting on Noah's lap on which they were watching movie.
Chase saw me looking at sleeping form of Noah and said "He must be
tired after the long flight".
I nodded my head and picked the laptop from his lap and kissed his forehead.
"Make a space so I'll lay him there". I nodded and create the space in
the center of the bed. Chase laid him there and kissed his head
mumbling goodnight.
We're in a hotel room in New York, we have come a day early here than
the dinner day her mom invited just to make sure we'll not back out
this time. Everyone is coming Allison, Cameron, Kate and with their
husband and kids to attend this dinner and I feel scared.
No one knows that I'm coming and I have no idea how they'll react upon
seeing me after three years.
"Again thinking Hailey". He said taking my hand in his and pulling me
off of the bed.
"Sorry I just I think I'm little nervous about tomorrow". I told him honestly.
He dragged me in the balcony that is showing the view of sparkling New
York night. New York never sleeps, it's young and filled with
enthusiasm like the youth that lives here.
"Hailey you know I won't force you if you don't want to meet them.
I'll just go tomorrow and tell her some false story and come back to
you and Noah. We can just enjoy our visit here than go back home". He
said looking ahead on the space.
"Chase please don't give me ideas. We have to do this you know I'm
just nervous about their reaction. I'm familiar with Allison Cameron
and uncle William but Kate and your mom is other story. They're
unpredictable". I replied glancing in his eyes.
He cupped my face between his and pulled me closer. Placing his head
on mine he said "You know I don't give an fµ*k what they think
anymore. The day she tried to kill my baby is the day I lost the
respect I had for her all my life. Just because of her nonsense demand
I make you leave that day, she stole three precious years of my life
with you and Noah ".
I sighed hearing him I can feel his pain in every word, I understand
his feelings now.
"Chase c'mon you can't stay mad at her. She's your real mother. You
saw how Melanie changed maybe your mother will change as well. She's
used to being so sweet to me before she found out I was pregnant". I
remind him so he'll stay calm tomorrow.
"I know Hailey. I wish she could change but she is the same. But
listen here whatever happens tomorrow you kept it this in your pretty
little head that I'm always with you. If they didn't accept you and
create a drama we'll not be staying there". He said to me making me
nod my head in a silent yes.
"Now tell me do you want to eat ice cream? All the four flavors?". He
asked me making me blush.
He remember my craving during pregnancy when I wished to eat seven
flavors of ice cream and he came to my door with them.
"I'm not pregnant so I have no crazy cravings Mr. Chase". I said to him.
"Are you sure?". He asked me and I nodded my head.
"Uh. Then Mrs. Chase Edward I think I need to work hard". He said
pulling me flush to his chest.
"Chase shut up". I said slapping his chest.
"What I promised my son to give him a brother. Don't you think if
he'll have brother to play we'll get more alone time with each other".
He said again to lure me in his talks.
"Chase we have talked about this. You know I have a year left to
graduate. I'm not refusing you but first I want to get over with the
college". I said glancing at his face.
"I know Hailey. I was just teasing you". He said pecking my lips lightly.
Then the small peck on lips converted into a heavy make out session on
balcony and half heatedly we stopped and went to bed instantly falling
in deep slumber.

(Dinner Evening)
I glanced at Chase in the mirror, he was looking mouthwatering in his
casual fitted jeans with navy blue shirt and that color just make him
look more sexy.
His unshaven face is something I cherish, he knows how much I like it
so he try keeping it most of the time.
I glanced at Noah who has been trying for five minutes to tie his
shoes. I got up from the chair to help him but Chase kneel down and
showed him how tie shoes.
I smiled at them and said "Hey please stand up and pose for a picture".
Chase picked Noah up in his arms and they both made the cutest pout I
have ever seen. Clicking and uploading a picture I give them thumbs up
and turned around to take a last look of myself.
I selected a white simple knee-length dress and applied a light makeup
to give skin a fresh look. I have put my hairs in a bun on my head
which isn't looking that bad. I'm wearing a simple diamond stud which
is another gift from Chase and the anklet he gave me on our wedding
night.
And the memory of our wedding night still made me shiver.
"You're looking magnificent. I would love to ravish you ". Chase said
placing a kiss on my neck while standing behind. His kisses made my
inside mush whenever he kisses me it's usually hard to resist what
comes next.
"Chase please I'm already too nervous". I said pleading to him so he
stop looking at me with those lustful eyes.
"Um. I don't know how to control myself around you Hailey. Sorry if I
made you uncomfortable". He said to me creating a space. I hate it
when he doubts himself or thinks that he's making uncomfortable.
I moved closer to him and smashed my lips on him and gave him a deep
kiss which he enjoyed fully. Then I pulled away breathless and said
"You're looking so mouthwatering that I don't even know how I resist
you half the time. I would more than love it if you ravish me but
there's Noah here and we really need to go. And most importantly you
never make me uncomfortable. You make me feel so many other things
which I'll definitely tell but this is not a right time". I said
stepping and he was still staring at me with his jaw dropped. Well I
think my little speech stunned him.
"Wow. You just wow .... Let's go woman". He said dragging me out of
our room and my sweet baby following us looking cute in his small
jeans and same color shirt as his dad.
When reached in the hotel lobby and waited for valet to get our car,
people stared at us even I saw some girls checking my both men's out
which made me jealous.
After thirty minutes of drive we reached outside Chase house. Getting
I told Noah again that it's his grandparents house and he have to be
on his best behavior. Being a sweet and understanding kid he's, he
nodded his head.
I gripped Noah's hand in mine and Chase gripped my hand in his we
walked towards the door.
The man opened the door and looked at Chase wide-eyed then glanced at
me and Noah.
"Hailey this Evan Thompson Kate's husband. And Evan this beautiful
woman is my wife Hailey and this is Noah my son". Chase introduces us.
The man Evan Thompson look so shocked that for a second I thought he's dead.
"Hi. Evan". I extended my hand which he took it.
"Hi.uh sorry I'm just shock. You were his ex-wife?". He asked making
Chase glared at him and I nodded my head.
"Sweetheart you're really beautiful not at all like what I heard about
you". He said glancing at me up and down.
I blushed and Chase cleared his throat to make Evan's eyes divert to
his face. He ushered us in and picked Noah in his arms.
"Everyone in the backyard lets go". He said and we followed him.
When reached there Evan loudly said "See who we have here" .
Everyone's head snapped in our direction making them go in a complete
shock. They were staring at me with their mouth hung open.
Cameron was the first one to recover from his shock. He got up from
his seat and walked towards me.
"Hailey it's you...oh God". He said and hugged me. I patted his back
light giggling.
"Yes it's me...and here's our little Noah". I said moving away and
pointing at my left.
"Uncle Cameron". Noah said and hugged him.
Then Allison got up and came to hug me. Uncle William came and hugged
me and Noah. Everyone was smiling looking happy except auntie Eva and
Kate, her eyes filled with disapproval.
She got up and walked to us. She stared at our faces angrily then said
" Chase what is this? Is this some kind of joke you are playing. What
is this witch doing here with you".
Now Chase look angry ready to explode " Mom mind your language when
talk about my wife. She's not a witch but you're a perfect evil
mother". He said making everyone silent.
I gasped at his cruel choices of words and squeeze his hand.
"Allison can you take kids inside". I said. She nodded and hurriedly
ushered them inside.
"Aunt Eva please we can talk about all this in civilized way if both
of you restrain from using crude words". I tried convenience
her.
"Just shut up... Because of you my son left me Now don't act innocent.
You seduced my son to make your stay here permanent. Now you're again
back to God knows for what". She shouted at me.
But before I could say anything we all heard the woman voice from the back.
"Everything alright guys?". She asked us making me go stiff.

Chapter forty-five
Hailey's POV :
Everyone was silent and looking at the woman like she was some alien,
crashed here from different planet.
Chase booming voice broke the heavy silence.
"What the hell are you doing here?" He asked the woman scaring her.
"Your mother invited me". She replied glancing between Chase and Eva.
"Great. Mom can you please explain to me, why the hell have you
invited her?" He asked angrily glaring at his mother.
"I... I thought you married her and you both are keeping it a secret
from us. So I thought I should invite her to show my acceptance
towards both of your relationship". She said making me flinch.
It felt like she just slapped me by telling me how she thinks Clara is
the more deserving one to stand beside Chase.
"How generous of you mother". Chase murmured gritting his teeth.
"Excuse me I'm little lost here. Who married whom and keeping a
secret?" She asked Chase, looking curious.
"Clara, meet my wife Hailey Edwards". Chase told her while placing his
hand on my waist and pulling me closer to him.
I awkwardly send her a small smile but I knew she was going to
explode. Her completely red face was giving away how angry and jealous
she was at that moment.
Clara stared at me from head to toe and then turned his attention back to Chase.
"Chase you're joking, right? She asked him.
"No, I'm dead serious". He answered her in monotone.
"How can you do this to me Chase? We were engaged". She said looking sad.
I felt the sympathy for her and her obsession towards Chase.
"Oh, when did I propose you? Do you have any ring? No? Did I ever show
interest in you? Have I ever hinted that I want anything more than
friendship with you?" Chase glared and asked her.
Instead of answering him, she attacked me like a crazy woman, pushing
me backward. It was because of Chase arms on my lower back that I
caught my balance on time before falling.
"You bitch how dare you steal what was mine. You whore! You're leaving
me just because of some one-night stand. I'm going to kill this
bitch". She said all this and again tried to attack me.
But Chase gripped her arm tightly and dragged her away from me. A
whimper escaped her mouth and her eyes turned glossy as Chase grip
tightened around her arm.
"Listen here Clara and listen well because I'm not going to repeat
this again. She's my wife from last five years and we have a son. We
had some misunderstandings created by some people but they're cleared
up now and we're back together. So I'm warning you that never show
your face to me again and if you ever thought of hurting Hailey I'll
kill you". He said to her now making her cry lightly.
"Do you understand it, Clara?" He asked her and when she didn't answer
him, he tightened his grip on her arm making her cry in pain. She
nodded her head hurriedly in a silent yes making Chase released his
hold on her arm.
I shivered looking at Chase and at his new side which I never knew
exist. Sensibly speaking I never want to see this side ever again
because he really looked scary. All the politeness vanished from his
face and his voice sounded really harsh making him look dangerous.
His eyes met mine and they instantly softened. I saw a glint of regret
in his eyes as he glanced at me. He realized how scared I felt looking
at him in this way.
He was about to walk to me when his mother voice stopped him.
"Chase you're acting like you've never treated Hailey badly. And if my
memory serves me right you hated her. You were the one who divorced
her and now you're protecting her. Tell me is she blackmailing you to
make you act like you care? ". She asked Chase.
After spending so much time with my husband I can tell by looking at
him how much he loathe those memories.
I started feeling uneasy and wanted to say something before everything
goes out of hand but Chase voice stopped me from saying anything.
"Really mom? Then let me tell you that yes, I treated her badly
because I used to think that she snatched my freedom from me. I
thought she destroyed my life by agreeing to marry me. But I was so
wrong mom. She...she changed me. She changed the way I used to think
and look at things". He said while glancing at me.
His eyes turned into a lighter shade of grey showing the purity behind
his words.
"She made me fall in love with her, mom. I tied really hard to stop
myself from falling for her but at the end my all attempts were
useless when I realized that no matter what we were meant to be
together. I used to think her life would be destroyed if we stayed
together but I was so wrong. Instead of sending her away thinking that
if she stayed you would make her life living hell, I should have left
with her too". He completed his statement making everyone eyes misty.
Allison and I had tears in our eyes because we understood his pain
better than others.
"Oh... Then why did you divorce her? Pray tell me, sweet son?" She asked him.
His eyes turned cold and he glared at his mom.
"You really want to know why mother?" He asked his mother shouting.
I saw a slight flicker of scare in Eva's eyes before she very
skillfully concealed it and nodded her head determined to know his
answer.
"I sent my wife and my child away from me because of you, mother. I
never wanted to divorce Hailey and separate my just one week old son
from me. But you made me do that". He yelled.
I wanted to stop him, leave this place and never come back but a part
of me also knows that he really wants it out from his chest.
"Mom you separated me from my wife and my son. Do you know how it
feels to rip a part of your body from your own hands? No? That's what
I felt when I divorced her and made her leave". He shouted.
His mom looked shocked and her mouth hung open at her son's revelation.
"Mom if I didn't caught you that day talking with Kate about getting
Hailey an abortion I would've never find out how dangerous you're for
my son and wife". He said making everyone gasp.
"Eva what's Chase talking about? Is it true? ". Chase dad asked his
wife in anger.
"Yes, But...but I thought it wasn't Chase son or this girl is just
trapping him". She said trying to explain.
"I just can't believe it Eva... I just can't believe that I've spent
twenty-five years of my life with you and I still don't know you.
Dammit! Hailey was his wife, Eva. She wasn't just any girl who he
knocked up mistakenly and wasn't ready took responsibility so you
would suggest abortion". Chase dad said in the disappointment at his
wife's action.
"But William, I thought I was helping him and saving him from the
unnecessary burden". She replied trying looking innocent.
"Don't call my son unnecessary burden, mom. Don't! He's my son not a
burden not a mistake. You never noticed my love for him. You never
noticed my connection with him or her. Because you were busy in hating
her. I spent countless night talking to my son when he wasn't even
born and connected with him. But the first thing you did when my son
was born you asked doctors to run a paternity test. Even after I
repeatedly told you that the baby growing inside her is mine". Chase
shouted at his mother.
I glanced at Chase and realized how tired he looks. The sweat beads
were shining on his forehead and he was breathing heavily.
I was concerned about him and walked to him then hugged him. I felt
his hand tightly wrapping around me embracing me and he kissed my
head.
"I'm sorry Hailey". He murmured lightly in my ear.
"Chase...you don't have to say sorry. It's not your fault". I said
rubbing his back.
Then suddenly, I felt something wet on my cheek and looked up thinking
that maybe they are tears falling from Chase eyes but I was so wrong.
My body went frozen in shock.
The blood was running down from his nose and he looked dazed. I caught
him in my arms in time and shouted for help.
Cameron and Evan ran to us and helped Chase to sit on the nearest
chair. I kneeled down in front of him and looked at him.
Allison got the tissues and kneels down beside me.
"Chase your nose is bleeding". I stammered and cleaned the blood with
my trembling hands.
"It's nothing, Hailey. Just promise me you'll stay with me". He said
and pulled me closer to his chest.
I placed my arms around his neck and hugged him.
Suddenly his body went limp in my arms. My heart stilled at that moment.
